The restoration of the Caledonian pine forest was one of the two main 2020VISION forest assignments. Only 1% of the original forest cover remains, but restoration is underway and more than 400,000 trees have now been planted. Niall Benvie, Peter Cairns and Mark Hamblin worked in Abernethy Forest, Glen Affric and Benn Eighe National Nature Reserve to capture the essence and beauty of this ancient forest and its inhabitants.
