More than just a Saltmarsh
The UK's saltmarshes are an incredibly rich habitat, supporting globally important populations of wildfowl and waders. Saltmarshes connect other habitats to allow a rich variety of wildlife to prosper. They act as a natural barrier between land and sea and serve as an effective flood defence. 2020VISION followed coastal re-wilding projects in the Solway Firth between Cumbria and Scotland and in Morecambe Bay. Restoring grazing marshes and coastal wetlands will allow wildlife to thrive alongside sustainable farming and fisheries.
