After three years of work and more than two hundred days spent in the field, hiking in the mountains and sleeping under the stars (or the rain...), photographer Bruno D'Amicis has created a unique showcase of the endangered Tichá Valley in the Tatra mountains of Slovakia.

His new book The Last Stronghold focuses on his work in this area and is devoted to saving
one of the last mountain wilderness areas in Europe. It contains first-hand wilderness stories written by the Slovak conservationist Erik Baláz.
