In quarter July-September 2012 we are pleased to support the work of Save the Rhino International and our donation will contribute towards their work with the Association of Private Land Rhino Sanctuaries in the Laikipia private land areas of Kenya on initiatives aimed at protecting Kenya's remaining populations of both black and white rhinos. Save the Rhino International (SRI) has been a registered charity since 1994 and works to conserve viable populations of critically endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia. SRI currently support 15 rhino field programmes on a long term basis across Africa and Asia through financial and technical support. The primary threats to rhinos are poaching, loss of habitat and political conflict. In recent years, poaching, particularly in South Africa, has escalated to catastrophic numbers. SRI supports rhino conservation by supporting community conservation programmes, environmental education programmes, anti-poaching and monitoring patrols, translocations, research and veterinary work. Our gallery focuses on the work being done by SRI and other organisations worldwide to protect the world's 5 threatened rhino species.
