The Maputaland Pondoland Albany Biodiversity Hotspot lies along the south east Coast of Africa, extending from the south of Mozambique through Swaziland to the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is renowned for its high level of endemic plants, but the region also supports more than 50 amphibian and reptile species which are found nowhere else. The main threats to the hotspot come from agricultural development, forestry and increased urbanisation.
