Field marigold seed (Calendula arvensis). The seeds ripen in late August/early September and develop into a variety of unique forms. Seeds in the outer head are longer while the innermost ones are short and more curved. Dispersal is either by wind-driven movement on the ground or by mammal fur, which the seeds attach to with spiny burs.
