Caption
'Epombepombe' (Strychos sp) ball-like forest fruit frequently eaten by the Agile Mangabey (Cercocebus agilis). This fruit shows signs of an attempt to access the fruit with bite marks scoring the hard mesocarp outer surface, with an older accessed fruit case sits discarded on the forest floor behind. The fruit is not edible to humans, but its interior is used to prepare a fish poison. Bai Hokou, Dzanga-Ndoki National Park, Central African Republic.
