Cut stump of palm oil tree during restoration work carried out by staff from the Orangutan Information Centre, North Sumatra. The staff begin by clearing oil palms from purchased land, often former illegal plantations, then collecting seeds from nearby primary forest, germinating them in nurseries, before planting them in carefully mapped patterns to create new rainforest.
