The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's atmospheric and space observatory, at 3400 meters on the northeast flank of Mauna Loa volcano. The observatory consists of 10 buildings from which up to 250 different atmospheric parameters are measured. In foreground is a sensitive weather station.
