The Wilson stump, a Japanese sugi pine (Cryptomeria) which was cut by the Shimazu clan in 1586, at an estimated age of over 3,000 years. The base circumference is 32 m and 4.39 m across at chest height. The hollow contains a shrine. Yakushima Island, UNESCO World Heritage Site, Japan. November 2008.
