Traffic lights and office buildings illuminated at dusk, part of new urban development, modern architecture skyscrapers in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, Germany, 2007.
As was the case in much of Berlin, many of the buildings around Potsdamer Platz were turned to rubble by air raids and heavy artillery bombardment during the last years of World War II. Potsdamer was then spilt into sections following the dividing of Berlin by the Allies and the Soviets. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall it has been reborn into a center of business and commerce.
