More than just the Sea

Seas and coasts are an important source of food, and also provide jobs in the fishing industry and ecotourism. The UK supports internationally important populations of seabirds and marine life. The two main 2020VISION seas assignments focused on ecotourism in the Inner Hebrides and on the sustainable pelagic mackerel fisheries of the Shetlands. The UK's seas hold more than 8000 wildlife species, including globally important numbers of grey seals and gannets.
