Philip Stephen started fishing commercially in 1983 when he began as a deckhand on his father's fishing boat. He then became skipper on two new state-of-the-art pair trawlers sailing from Peterhead to the North Sea fishing grounds. Phil soon realised that most people were unaware of the conditions and risks that fishermen faced, so set about learning photography to document them. He has since built up a varied collection of images that give a raw insight into life aboard a fishing vessel.
