Burning Peat Swamp - an area accidentally burnt in a prescribed burn program. Peat swamps burn extremely slowly over several months after the bushfire in surrounding areas has been extinguished. As the peat in a peat swamp has accumulated over thousands of years, once burnt, the peat swamp never recovers. Walpole-Nornalup National Park, Western Australia. February 2009.
