Description
Flock of Common cranes (Grus grus) feeding in potato field with Rooks in trees in background, near Hickling Broad, Norfolk, UK, March 2011. Photographer quote: 'Common cranes, extinct as a breeding bird in Britain for several centuries, are quietly making a comeback in the Norfolk Broads. They're supposed to be a bird of wetlands, but they can't resist potatoes - so I pitched my portable photographic hide next to this field just after the spuds had been lifted, and the cranes duly obliged.' Did you know? There is growing evidence to support the link between healthy nature and healthy people and the recently reintroduced European crane is an iconic emblem of this fresh thinking.
