Caption
Graduate student from University of Florida baiting an Argentine black and white tegu (Salvator merianae) trap with an egg, and a potato. The egg is the bait, and the potato is put in so that in the event that a mammal gets caught in the trap, it does not die of dehydration. Some traps are set up with metal pieces alongside them, called a drift fence system which helps to "funnel" the smaller tegus into the traps. Florida, USA. August 2018.
