Mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae) male and female in Lodgepole Pine tree, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA, August. The current outbreak of mountain pine beetles has been particularly aggressive. This is due to climate change, monoculture planting of trees and fire suppression.
