We are delighted to announce that NPL represents Hungarian photographer Bence Mate who was overall winner of the 2010 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Aged just 25, Bence is the youngest ever winner of the competition, and was also winner of the Eric Hosking Award with a portfolio of six images.
NPL contributor Fergus Gill won the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year award for the second year in a row, with his eye-catching image of a fieldfare feeding on rowan berries.
Altogether more than 20 images by NPL photographers were section winners, runners-up or commended images this year in Wildlife Photographer of the Year and several more had success in the British Wildlife Photography awards.
Adding to the international success of our photographers, Pete Cairns was the overall winner of the US Nature's Best competion with his dramatic osprey fishing image, shot during his contribution to the Wild Wonders of Europe project. Meanwhile, several NPL photographers were winners in the European Nature Photographer of the Year competition, organised by GDT in Germany.
