It's one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. As crews prepare for the 21st World Championships, we find out just what the attraction is with Cornish Pilot Gig rowing.

Extracts: The idyllic Isles of Scilly lie 28 miles off Land's End, and are home to just 2000 people. But every year in May, the population doubles as burly gig rowers from all over the world descend on the tiny Islands for the highlight in their racing calendar...

...Cornish Pilot Gigs have been around for centuries. Way back in 1666, a group of Scilly men braved stormy seas in a small wooden boat to rescue the crew of the stricken Royal Oak, which was floundering on Bishop Rock - and gig rowing was born...
