Since 2005, Edwin Giesbers has been working as a professional freelance nature photographer. He is interested in a wide range of subjects, from insects, plants, birds, and mammals to landscapes, and creates photo-stories about animal species and conservation projects for several magazines. In 2011 he was commissioned by National Geographic and Dutch Media to produce a book on nature photography in the Netherlands and Belgium. Worldwide his pictures have been successful in several leading international photo competitions, including first prizes at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, European Nature Photographer of the Year and Nature's Best contest. His work has been published in magazines such as BBC Wildlife Magazine, National Geographic Magazine, Terre Sauvage and Camera Natura. Since 2014 Edwin, who is based in the Netherlands, has been working on the Frogs Life Project, which aims to focus attention on the world's endangered amphibians. His latest book, published in the Netherlands by Fontaine Uitgevers in association with National Geographic, looks at the world's hotspots for nature photography.
