Description
Fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) tethered to a tungsten pin. Despite not going anywhere, the fly will flap its wings, and respond to visual scenery as if it were in fact moving. This is a common approach used in the Dickinson lab, California Institute of Technology, USA, December 2016.
