British photographer Matt Maran has spent 5 years photographing the wildlife and landscapes of the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. His images are showcased in a book published in Summer 2011, which takes us on a personal journey through Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and along the famous West Coast Trail. On the way he encounters black bears, bald eagles, sea otters and both California and Steller's sealions.
The dramatic coastlines of Barkley and Clayoquot Sounds are one of the world's great whale-watching destinations, with orcas, humpbacks and grey whales active in the rich cold waters of the Pacific Northwest. The book celebrates the biodiversity of Vancouver Island, its vast areas of wilderness and its towering ancient rainforests.
