Caption
Grey-headed flying-fox (Pteropus poliocephalus) in flight, taking a flying high speed 'belly-dip' into the Yarra river at the end of a very hot day. They do this to wet their fur which both acts as a form of evaporative cooling and allows them to quench their thirst by lapping water of it. Yarra Bend Park, Kew, Victoria, Australia. Cropped.
