Pal Hermansen is a successful nature photographer and writer based in Norway. He has more than 20 photography books published and has had many exhibitions of his work.


Pal's missions for Wild Wonders of Europe were in Ireland where he worked in four different locations: ^Saltee is a fantastic bird island at the very south-east corner of Ireland. It is privately managed, and no-one is allowed to stay there over night; there is no harbour, so landing depends on calm weather. Luckily, I was able to join a workshop group of photographers that had permission to stay relatively late at night. The gannet colony is nice, and the other birds are easy to approach and observe.
