Solvin Zankl began his career as a photographer in 1989. Inspired by the experience of a one-year stay at the former West Indies Laboratory in the Virgin Islands, he tried for the first time to document wildlife in its natural environment. After completing his studies in Marine Biology he began to photograph life above and below the sea surface. Since 1998 Solvin has been working as a professional photographer, specialised in producing wildlife stories in different parts of the world. His work has been widely published in magazines including Geo, Natural History Magazine and BBC Wildlife, and he won the German Award for Science Photography.
