Maurizio Biancarelli has been involved in wildlife and natural history photography for twenty years. His home is in Italy but he frequently travels abroad. He has published four nature books on the region of Umbria in Italy on assignment for the Italian Ministry for Environment. His work has featured in magazines and books worldwide and he has also organised solo exhibitions in Italy, France, Romania, and China.
In turning his attention to the various aspects of the natural world - landscape, flora and fauna -, Maurizio Biancarelli endeavours to show the extraordinary complexity of the world that surrounds us, using photography as an effective means of communicating the issues related to nature conservation.
When composing an image he tries to portray the essence of his subject, in the belief that simplicity is synonymous with beauty; he pays particular attention to the quality of light. For his WWoE missions he worked in Plitvice NP, Croatia, and visited Hallerbos in Belgium to capture spring flowers in the woodlands.
