The Coastal Forests of Eastern Africa, which stetch from Somalia to Mozambigue, contain remarkable levels of biodiversity but only tiny fragments remain. This hotspot holds 3 endangered endemic monkey species and two endemic bushbabies. It also supports good populations of black rhinos and savanna elephants. The main threat to this hotspot is from agricultural development and increased urbanisation.
